Project Overview
The touch thermostat set out to be a key touch point in the guest room in addition to the TV. It championed our expanding room controls as well as other sought after guest features. This included lighting, late check out request, cleaning request, mobile remote integration and of course, temperature control.
Surveying
Conducted internal survey to help inform what icons users would be able to identify. “The goal here is to see how you identify each icon at first glance to replicate a guest’s initial experience.” The prompt asked the individual to identify the button and it’s function with similar context clues that a user would rely on.
Utilizing the feedback from the survey and industry standard symbols, a set of icons were born. These are a fundamental part of the expanding Room Controls iconography.
Final Design
Touch thermostat on display at HITEC 2021. The product was fully interactive and allowed guests to tap through each feature and test the display.
